I remember the day that my family brought home our new cat Buttons. She was such a beautiful feline and one that nobody else wanted to have because she was all black with only a small white tuft on her chest. She was such a great cat even if she did have an attitude. However, she was always attached to my mom and not the rest of us.

When I was 16 my mom decided that it was time to get my own pet and she let me choose the cat that I wanted to have. The only condition was that I had to be the one to take care of her and make sure that the cat health and food and everything else was well taken care of. So that is when I picked up my first kitten.

The hardest part though was not bringing her home and taking care of her. It was trying to find the best way to introduce the new cat to the old one that had been living with us for a few years. I had heard that trying to bring in more than one cat can sometimes be a hard thing to be able to do.

The best way to do this was to do it in a slow way. I placed the new kitten in my room with the door closed. That way the old one could smell her and get used to the smell. Than slowly we would bring out my cat and have them get used to each other. Before we knew it they were the best of friends.
