Common Causes Of Dog Dandruff And Flaking You Should Know About

So dogs get dandruff too, big deal. Should you be concerned about it? The answer is “Yes, you should!” Like people, dogs have a massive problem when it comes to Flaking and Dog Dandruff. Dog Dandruff however, is a really serious skin condition that’s calling for special attention. You need not only be concerned about it but as a responsible pet owner you need to do something about it.

Causes Of Dogs Dandruff

-          Parasites – Parasites in the digestive system that consumes the nutrients needed by the dog. Parasites can bring down the immune system of your dog.

-          Mites – microscopic and macroscopic mites that infect and causes allergies through their bites.

-          Dog food and diet – foods which contains chicken, eggs, beef, milk products and soy.

-          Allergic reaction – to both food and hair and skin care products.

-          Cancer – dogs can develop skin cancer too depending on the breed and on the seriousness of the skin condition.

-          Skin diseases – breaks from the skin which results to infection and poorly treated or even left untreated.

-          Poor Nutrition – malnutrition can cause different diseases not only to dogs but to humans as well.

-          Stress – stress affects animals too like how it affects people, stress is known to lower the immune system which can make your dog prone to infections and diseases.

-          Products – Skin and hair care products that are often harsh, not completely rinsed off or perfumed can often accumulate on the dog’s skin and causes Flaking

-          Air – can cause skin dryness. Sometimes, microscopic parasites and mites can be carried off in the air and can land on dog’s fur which causes parasite infestation over time.

Above are the most common cause of dog dandruff and other skin allergic conditions in dogs. The most obvious sign of dandruff is Flaking when the skin of your pet dries up, combined with accumulated hair care and skin care products then dog Dandruff develops.  Some dogs have a serious case of Dog Dandruff which can lead to other skin problems while other dogs don’t. In cases where the Flaking becomes obvious and heavy, this eventually results to something more serious other than Dog Dandruff. You should immediately consult your local vet to be advised about what you dog shampoo and products you should use and avoid.
